Margaret Lynch was born in Lightburn, Shettleston in 1866 to Ann McGee (1833 - 1890) and Patrick Lynch (c1833 - ), Coal Miner. [See Section LH-6-1 for family background.]

1888 On Thursday, April 5, Peter Farmer married Margaret Lynch at The Chapel, Alexandria [Our Lady & St Mark] after Publication according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.493 at Bonhill on April 12.

Peter was a Bachelor, gave his age as 20 [he was nearer 23], occupation Carter and usual residence as 281 Main Street, Renton. His parents are recorded as Patrick Farmer, General Labourer and Catherine Farmer m.s. Smith.

Margaret was a Spinster, age 21, occupation Farm Servant and usual residence 27 Thimble Street, Renton. Her parents are recorded as Patrick Lynch, Collier and Ann Lynch m.s. McGhie.

The celebrant was Emile De Backer, R.C. Clergyman and the witnesses were Henry Lynch [probably Margaret's brother] and Bridget Farmer [probably Peter's sister]. [Not in the R.C. index.]

Peter and Margaret had the following children (as far as I know), all (except Catherine) born in Cambuslang —

Catherineborn in 1886 in Renton, Dunbartonshire, last sighting 1911.
Annieborn in 1890, last sighting 1911.
Mary Lynchborn in 1893, last sighting 1901.
Patrickborn in 1895, last sighting 1911.

Margaretborn in 1902, last sighting 1911.
Peterborn in 1904, last sighting 1911.

which tallies with the count in the 1911 census.

1889 Catherine Smith Farmer was born at 8h0m p.m. on Saturday, January 5 at Macfarlanes Building, Thimble Street, Renton to Margaret Farmer m.s. 1890 Annie Farmer was born at 5h30m p.m. on Friday, July 25 at 20 Cross Row, Newton, Cambuslang to Margaret Farmer m.s. Lynch and Peter Farmer, Pitheadman who married on April 5, 1888 at Bonhill, Dumbartonshire. Her birth was registered No.339 at Cambuslang on August 1 by Peter Farmer, Father.

1891 April 6 Although Lynch references before and after this date give an address of 5 Old Rows, Newton, it is not the Lynchs who appear at that address in the census (and I cannot find them in the index for the rest of Scotland). Instead, in the house with two windowed rooms, we find —

Entries for this area in 1901 are illegible due to major ink fade. I could not see who was living at 5 Old Rows, but, not too far away —

Peter and Margaret had been married for 22 years and produced 9 children, all of whom were still living.

Kate and Annie have moved some distance to Renfrewshire where they have found employment at Milton near Kilmacolm.
