Early Lyons events in Knockgraffon

This family reconstruction is based on entries in the Registers of Baptisms and Marriages for the Roman Catholic Parish of New Inn and Knockgraffon. There is little in the records beyond the names of the parties involved and, from about 1828, the townland of residence. I have treated Lyons and Lynes as equivalent.

1819 August 24 Daniel Lyons and Judith Farrell married in Newinn, witnesses Hennery O'Brien and Judith Carew. (2502/2 page 30)

1820 August 31 Catherine, daughter of Daniel Lyons and Judith Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsors James Galligan and Bridget Galligan. (2502/1 page 7)

1880 There is the death of a Catherine Lyons, age 60, registered at Cashel, Quarter 4, Volume 3, Page 293. [No image available] This assumes Catherine never married (or someone didn't inform the registrar about it).

1822 December 5 William, son of Daniel Lyons and Judith Farrel was baptised at Newinn with sponsors John Hanly and Margaret Sanel. (2502/1 page 15)

1825 April 11 Margret, daughter of Daniel Lyons and Judith Farrel was baptised at Newinn with sponsors Nicholas Tobin and Anne Foly. (2502/1 page 23)

1826 June 22 John of Daniel Lions and Judith Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsors Patrick Tierny and Mary Pine. (2502/1 page 28)

1829 April 1 Ellen of Daniel Lyons, New Inn, and Joanna Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsors John Coffee and Margaret Hanly. (2502/1 page 39)

1837 February 5 Mary of Daniel Lyons, Newinn, and Judy Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsor Judy Reardon. (2502/1 page 72)

1840 July 5 Judith of Daniel Lyons, Newinn, and Judith Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsors Edmund Kennedy and Judith Connors. (2502/1 page 88)

1843 August 20 Margaret of Daniel Lyons, Newinn, and Judith Farrell was baptised at Newinn with sponsors Barney Lamy and Mary Galligan. (2502/1 page 101)

1864 There is the death of Johana Lyons or Farrell, age 63, registered at Cashel, Quarter 1, Volume 3, Page 434. [No image available]

1842 February 8 William Lynes and Mary Maher, both of Newinn, married in Newinn with witnesses Michael McEnroe and Margaret Keogh. [See Section LS-5-1 for further information.]

1842 October 20 John Lynes and Mary Fogarty, both of Newinn, were married in Newinn with witnesses William Wall and Bridget Kennedy. [See Section LS-5-2 for further information.]

I have no way of knowing that these entries feature the same mother, or that either of them is Catherine, born in 1820, but ...

1849 April 10 Margaret (Illegt) of Catherine Lynes, and Edmund Lynch, Newinn, was baptised at Newinn with sponsor Ellen Doyle. (2502/3 page 9)

1861 September 4 Catherine (illeg) of Catherine Lyons, and Thomas Dee was baptised at Newinn with sponsors William Butler and Catherine Lamey. (2502/3 page 35)

I have no way of knowing that these entries feature Mary, born in 1837, but ...

1856 July 27 Mary Lyons and Michael Reily were witnesses to the marriage in Newinn of James Butler and Ellen Hartigan. (2502/4 page 22)

1864 May 11 Mary Lyons and Richard Baican were sponsors at the baptism in Newinn of Thomas of Thomas Griffiths and Mary Kennedy. (2502/3 page 42) [cf Baican on page 63, August 9.]

1865 November 21 Mary Lyons and William Kennally were sponsors at the baptism in Newinn of Elizabeth of Henry Roche and Bessy Kennedy. (2502/3 page 45)

Which leaves us with a few unconnected (so far) events —

1803 November 9 Patrick Lynes and Elisa Morosy married in Newinn, witnesses William Moore and Judith Mara. (2502/2 page 11)

1829 March 2 Denis Lyons, Parish of Golden, and Ellen Lonergan married in Newinn, witnesses Daniel Moloney, William Lonergan and Catherine Dalton. (2502/2 page 43)

1839 February 3 John Lyons, Bohirlahan, and Catherine Costelloe Newinn, married in Newinn, witnesses Thomas Prout and Mary Martin. (2502/4 page 9) (Unlikely to be the John Lyons above, born in 1826.)

1842 October 12 Patrick of Edmund Cranley, Dogstown, and Mary Lynes was baptised at Newinn with sponsors William Wall and Mary Corcoran. (2502/1 page 97)

1845 April 30 Honora of Edmund Cranley, Dogstown, and Mary Lynes was baptised at Newinn with sponsors John and Mary Kennedy. (2502/1 page 107)

(There is no Cranley listed in Dogstown in Griffiths Valuation (1850), and I can't find Dogstown in the Tithes.)

1849 May 14 Anne Lyons and John Kennedy were sponsors at the baptism in Newinn of William of John Lonnergan, Ballygerald, and Lucy Landers. (2502/3 page 10)

1857 December 18 Hanna Lyons and Ed. Boland [husband of Honora Dunn(e)] were sponsors at the baptism in Newinn of Geoffry (illeg) of David Ryan, and Navee Michaw. (2502/3 page 25)

1873 January 7 William Dunne and Margaret Lyons were witnesses to the marriage of Andrew Mahony and Charlotte Meysick. (2502/4 page 32)
