Johnborn in 1856 in Tollcross, last sighting 1891.
Charlesborn in 1858 in Tollcross, married Agnes Carroll in 1884, last sighting 1901.


1854 Catherine, lawful child of Patrick Leslie and Margt. Callagan was born on Sunday, September 10 and was baptised on the following day in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir by Fr. Patrick McLaughlin with sponsors John Karally and Biddy Dolan.

The Family of Charles Leslie & Agnes Carroll, 1884

Charles Leslie was born about 1859 in Tollcross, Lanarkshire to Margaret Gallighan (c1821 - ) and Patrick Leslie, Agricultural Labourer (c1831 - ). [See above for family background.]

Agnes Carroll was born on Sunday, July 30, 1865 at Wardlawhill, Rutherglen to Jane Duffie (c1838 - ) and Bernard Carrol, Colliery Redsman (c1826 - 1887). [See Section CA2-6-1 for family background.]


1884 On Thursday, June 12, Charles Leslie and Agnes Carroll were married at St. Bridget's Cath. Church, Baillieston after Publication according to the Forms of the Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.35 at Baillieston on the same day.

Charles was a Bachelor, gave his age as 25, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence Newlands, Bothwell [Parish]. His parents are recorded as Patrick Leslie, Agricultural Labourer and Margaret Leslie m.s. Gallighan.

Agnes was a Spinster, gave her age as 21 [she was 18], no occupation recorded and usual residence also Newlands, Bothwell [Parish]. Her parents are recorded as Bernard Carroll, Coal Miner and Jane Carroll m.s. Duffie.

The celebrant was Peter H. Tesker, C.C. and the witnesses were John Leslie [probably Charles's brother] and Mary McAlinden

The bride and groom made their marks, the witnesses apparently signed.

[Note :– St. Bridget's parish was established in 1876.]
