Ellen Kelly was born on March 19, 1876 at Wyndyedge Old Farm, Cleland to Jane Reynolds (1852 - 1924) and Robert Kelly (c1850 - 1920). [See Section KY-6-1 for family background.]
Ellen married Thomas McInally in 1897, he died a few years later and she then married Francis.
1909 On Tuesday, June 8, Francis Kennedy and Helen McInaley or Kelly were married at the Roman Catholic Chapel, Cleland [St. Mary's] after Banns according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.17 at Cleland on the following day.
Francis was a Bachelor, gave his age as 28 [he was two weeks short of his 30th birthday], occupation Coalminer and usual residence Omoa square, Cleland. His parents are recorded as Bernard Kennedy, Coalminer (deceased) and Jane Kennedy m.s. Dickie.
Ellen was a Widow, age 33, and usual residence also Omoa Square, Cleland. Her parents are recorded as Robert Kelly, Labourer and Jane Kelly m.s. Reynolds.
The celebrant was Peter Murray and the witnesses were Robert Kelly and Jane Brelsford. [Ellen's brother and his wife.]
1909 Jane Kennedy was born at 3h a.m. on Thursday, August 5 at Pottery Building, Cleland to Helen Kennedy previously McInally m.s. Kelly and Francis Kennedy, Coalminer who married on June 5, 1905 at Shotts (West). Her birth was registered No.485 at Holytown on August 27 by H. Kennedy, Mother.
[Pottery Building, Cleland? The district boundary was the Tillan Burn which runs just west of Omoa Square. Cleland Pottery (1895 - 1911 or 14) was on the west bank of the burn, therefore in Holytown District despite being much closer to Cleland than to Holytown.]
1911 April 2 The family were living at 23 Omoa Square, Cleland in a house with one windowed room.
