The Family of John Creanor & Annie Connelly, 1903

John Creanor was born about 1874 to Margaret Lynch (c1836 - 1911) and Arthur Creanor (c1824 - 1907). [See Section CR-6-1 for family background.]

Annie Connelly was born about 1881 in Shotts Parish, Lanarkshire to Rebecca Slavin (c1851 - ) and James Connelly, Quarryman (c1849 - ). [See Section CN2-6-1 for family background.]


1903 John Creanor (Illegitimate) was born at 1h30m a.m. on Thursday, August 13 at School Rows, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Connelly, Domestic Servant, and John Creanor, Coal Miner. His birth was registered No.102 at Fauldhouse on September 2 by John Creanor, Father, School Rows, Fauldhouse and Annie Connelly, Mother.

Sadly, John lived just 5 months and died in 1904.


1903 On Friday, September 18, John Creanor and Annie Connelly were married at St. John's, Fauldhouse after Banns according to the Forms of the Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.19 at Fauldhouse on the following day.

John was a Bachelor, age 29, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence Fauldhouse. His parents are recorded as Arthur Creanor, Coal Miner and Margaret Creanor m.s. Lynch.

Annie was a Spinster, gave her age as 23, occupation Domestic Servant and usual residence also Fauldhouse. Her parents are recorded as James Connelly, Quarryman and Rebecca Connelly m.s. Slavin.

The celebrant was George Mason, Catholic Clergyman, and the witnesses were John McCulloch and Kate Murphy.

John and Annie had the following children (that I know of), all born in Fauldhouse —

which tallies with the 1911 census count.


1904 John Creanor (Single) died at 9h0m a.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse, age 5 months, of Congestion of Lungs after 2 days, as certified by S. Grant Ogilvie, MB. His parents are recorded as John Creanor, Coal Miner and Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly. His death was registered No.4 at Fauldhouse on the same day by John Creanor, Father, Present.


1905 Margaret Creanor was born at 7h0m a.m. on Monday, February 6 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Ann Creanor m.s. Connelly and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 27 [sic], 1903 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.21 at Fauldhouse on February 27 by Ann Creanor, Mother.

Sadly, Margaret died in 1915, aged just 10.


1906 Rebecca Creanor was born at 0h30m a.m. on Tuesday, December 18 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Creanor m.s. Connley [sic] and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 18, 1903 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.3 at Fauldhouse on January 7, 1907 by Annie Creanor, Mother.


1908 Annie Creanor was born at 9h0m p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 18, 1903 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.30 at Fauldhouse on March 4 by John Creanor, Father.


1909 Catherine Creanor was born at 8h45m a.m. on Saturday, November 27 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 18, 1903 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.127 at Fauldhouse on December 15 by John Creanor, Father.


1911 April 2 John and Annie were living at 3 Chapel Row, Fauldhouse in a house with one windowed room 2 doors from John's mother at No.1.

John and Annie had been married for 7 years and produced 5 children of whom 4 were still living, the exception being John (1903 - 1904).

Owen and Maggie (Tonner) were not far away at Post Office Row, Main Street, Fauldhouse.


1911 Norah Creanor was born at 11h55m a.m. on Thursday, October 19 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 18, 1903 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.112 at Fauldhouse on November 9 by Annie Creanor, Mother.


1914 Arthur Creanor was born at 8h30m a.m. on Friday, February 6 at Falla's Row, District of Fauldhouse to Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly and John Creanor, Coal Miner who married on September 18, 1903 in Fauldhouse. His birth was registered No.37 at Fauldhouse on February 27 by John Creanor, Father.

Arthur married Mary Maclachlan at St. Patrick's, Shotts in 1940.


1915 Margaret Creanor (Single) died at 7h0m p.m. on Thursday, July 22 at Dalton Row, District of Fauldhouse, age 10 years, of Abdominal Tuberculosis after 4 months, as certified by Robert Gilchrist, MBChB. Her parents are recorded as John Creanor, Coal Miner (Private, 4th Battalion, B. Coy., Royal Dublin Fusileers) and Ann Creanor m.s. Connelly. Her death was registered No.34 at Fauldhouse on the following day by Owen Creanor, Uncle, Post Office Row, Fauldhouse.


1940 On Friday, June 28, Arthur Creanor and Mary McLachlan [sic] were married at St. Patrick's Church, Shotts after Publication according to the Forms of the Romas Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.45 at Shotts on July 1.

Arthur was a Bachelor, age 26, occupation Crane Driver and usual residence 49 Victoria Road, Fauldhouse. His parents are recorded as John Creanor, Coal Miner and Annie Creanor m.s. Connelly.

Mary was a Spinster, age 23, occupation Grocer's Assistant and usual residence 55 Main Street, Shotts. Her parents are recorded as James Ferguson McLachlan, Pithead Baths Attendant and Jeanie McLachlan m.s. Reynolds.

The celebrant was Daniel Harty, Catholic Priest, St. Patrick's, Shotts and the witnesses were Adam Cook, 68 Scott Place, Fauldhouse and Nora Creanor, 49 Victoria Road, Fauldhouse [Arthur's sister].
