The Family of Patrick Nolan & Ellen Reynolds, 1912

Patrick Nolan was born on April 22, 1890 Auchinlee to Mary Lafferty (1857 - 1937) and William Nolan, Quarryman (c1854 - 1903). [See Section NO-6-1 for family background.]

Ellen Reynolds was born on June 25, 1894 in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire to Ellen Connolly (1854 - 1901) and William Reynolds, Coal Miner (1850 - 1920). [See Section RS-6-2 for family background.]


1912 On Friday, July 12, Patrick Nolan and Ellen Reynolds were married at the Roman Catholic Chapel, Cleland [St Mary's] after Banns and Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.25 at Cleland on the following day.

Patrick was a Bachelor, age 22, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence 6 Omoa Square, Cleland. His parents are recorded as William Nolan, Quarryman (deceased) and Mary Nolan m.s. Lafferty.

Ellen was a Spinster, age 18, no occupation recorded and usual residence 41 Omoa Square [unoccupied at the 1911 census], Cleland. Her parents are recorded as William Reynolds, Coal Miner and Ellen Reynolds m.s. Connelly.

The celebrant was Peter Murray and the witnesses were Daniel Nolan [probably Patrick's brother] and Catherine Larkin.

[A Catherine Larkin married William Kelly in Cleland on December 31, 1912.]


1930 Ellen Nolan, married to Patrick Nolan, Coal Miner died at 3h30m a.m. on Sunday, September 21 at Carrickvale Terrace, Omoa Road, Cleland, age 36 years, of Syncope [sudden death] following Influenza, seen after death by J.W. Wylie, L.R.C.P. & L.R.C.S.,L.R.F..P(G). Her parents are recorded as William Reynolds, Coal Miner and Ellen Reynolds formerly Dobbin m.s. Connelly, both deceased. Her death was registered No.54 at Cleland on the following day by Patrick Nolan, Widower, Present.
