The Family of William Hyslop & Jane, c1889

Wlliam Hyslop was born in Manchester about 1860 to Fanny Greaves (c1824 - ) and John Hyslop (c1828 - ), a Carter. [See Section HY-5-1 for family background.]

Jane was born in Salford about 1864.

They had the following children (that I know of), all born in Manchester unless otherwise stated —

Fanny Greavesborn about 1890, last sighting 1911.
Margaretborn about 1892, last sighting 1911.
Williamborn about 1892, last sighting 1911.
Elizabethborn about 1894, last sighting 1901.
Charlesborn about 1897, last sighting 1911.

The census entry for 1911 shows that Jane and William had produced 8 children of whom three were deceased by that date. Since I now have all the intervening censuses, it would seem that none of them survived long enough to be included in a census (although it is always possible that they were elsewhere on census nights).

c1889 William and Jane were married

1891 April 5 The family were living at 53 Hendham Vale, Harpurhey in a house with at least 5 occupied rooms. Hendham Vale skirts the west side of Queen's Park north of Queens Road and west of Rochdale Road. The locality may be Smedley rather than Harpurhey.
