In Volume 2, I reproduced some unused postcards of Rome which were filed in the Brown Folders for 1969.
I have since found an album which starts with a collection of photographs of Rome and has a diary of a visit there by Queenie and Louisa.
This page is my amalgamation of the three. I have distributed the photographs as seems appropriate.

I have taken liberties with the spelling and punctuation of the diary and will take the blame for any errors
(except those in Italian names). The photographs were taken by at least three cameras.

Thursday

Mass in Domus Chapel at 9 o'clock (5th floor) said by 2 Salesian Fathers from Austria. Continental breakfast and a talk with them and with an American lady who had been a sister and was "doing Europe". Spent the morning washing hair and drying it on veranda etc. Had early lunch, rest, and then set out for John Lateran via 49 & 88 bus. Found it with the aid of an old priest. Had a very good look and listened to its story on tape. Came out, didn't do Scala Santa but made our way past Porta Astruara along Viale Carlo Felice to the Church of Holy Cross in Jerusalem called Hellenian - built by St Helena who brought relic of Holy Cross. Mass was being said so we waited and then examined the Church - not so well tended and decorated as the others but very interesting. Walked back to Piazza Venetgia. Looked at Roman Forum. Went to Capitol and then saw Monument to Victor Emanuel (Mussolini's Bridescake). Looked for 46, got on 64. Home and out for dinner.
