George's parents were William Shaw and Emma L. Parnell who married in St Stephen's Church, City Road, Hulme in 1896.

One brother is not included above, William was born about 1897, enlisted as Pte. 18874 The Border Regiment and was killed in action in France 26/11/15. The other brother was John, usually known as Jack. The girls, as far as I can deduce married men named Walker, Beeley and Nurney.
