Sundry photographs of people (and places) which I cannot place in another context.
  • Priests

  • Ladies (mostly)

  • Men (mostly)

  • Children

  • Others

  • Cologne — about the end of WW1

  • Bishop Eaton — 1920, I suspect a seminary

"I thank you so much for
    your letter & card &
    good wishes. My best
    wishes & my best prayers
    for your success both
    in College & after you
    leave. I shall always have
    no fear
    [?] to hear of you."

      "Three 'Old Maids of Lee'"

    420 - H. H. Davies, Photographer, Aberystwyth 421 421R
Another possible sighting of this lady.

    363 363
[Is she one of the sitters? or someone else entirely?]

    455 455 455
The lady standing on the right
    appears to have a watch
    pinned to her lapel.
    And this is the figure
    in the background.

I've heard of cutting off heads
and feet but that looks ridiculous.

However, I think it is really meant
to be a photo of these two ladies
    whoever they are.

[I know nothing about these gentlemen.]

    392 - E. W. Mack, Photographer, Larne (stamped 5159) 392R
[I can't think who would be having
    their photograph taken in Larne.]

[But there is a postcard from Larne,
    from Margaret Mary,
    though the handwriting look different
but the spelling is the same.]

(I won't mention Lena in the middle
but the lady on the right might be Fanny.)

    448 355 - Beach Studios, Durban
[If you think this family looks German,
there might be a connection with Pat Dowd
being stationed there at the end of WW1. But, ....]
[No indication as to who, when or why
but since it is embossed "Beach Studios, Durban,
at least we have some idea of where.]

    451 754
[I've no idea who, where or when.] "Helena D... - 3.9.'11"

580 [ I wonder what was affixed to this card. ]

    Cologne

There is nothing on the back of any of these (apart from the occasional publisher/photographer credit)
and since I am not aware of Lena having visited Cologne, and given the apparent date of these views,
I am inclined to the notion that they were acquired by Pat during his service overseas.

    Bishop Eaton

All three have on the back — "From Fr Slattery C.S.S.R., Bishop Eaton Easter 1920"

There is a place on the current map called Eaton Bishop, not a million miles from Hereford.
