Ellen Faughnan was born in 1882 in Shotts Parish to Annie Keatings (c1865 - 1901) and Edward Faughnan (c1862 - 1907). [See Section FN-6-1 for family background.]
1903 On Thursday, December 31, Peter Nolan and Ellen Faughnan were married at the R.C. Chapel, Cleland [St. Mary's], West Dist. of Shotts after Banns and Publication according to the Forms of the R.C. Church. The marriage was registered No.3 at Cleland on January 2, 1904.
Peter was a Bachelor, age 23, occupation Quarryman and usual residence Johnston's Land, West Dist. of Shotts. His parents are recorded as William Nolan, Quarryman (deceased) and Mary Nolan m.s. Lafferty.
Ellen was a Spinster, gave her age as 22, occupation Brickfield Worker and usual residence Omoa Square, West Dist. of Shotts. Her parents are recorded as Edward Faughnan, Coalminer and Annie Faughnan m.s. Keatings (deceased).
The celebrant was Robert Paterson and the witnesses were James Glass and Annie Donnelly.

Ellen born in 1909 at 97 Omoa Square, Cleland, last sighting 1911. Edward born in 1911 in White's Buildings, Omoa Road, last sighting 1911. which tallies with the 1911 census count.
1904 William Nolan was born at 2h0m p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at Omoa Square, West Dist. of Shotts to Ellen Nolan m.s. Faughney [sic] and Peter Nolan, Quarryman who married on December 31, 1903 in the West District of Shotts. His birth was registered No.50 at Cleland on May 7 by Peter Nolan, Father.
1905 Annie Nolan was born at 9h0m p.m. on Monday, August 28 at Omoa Square, West Dist of Shotts to Ellen Nolan m.s. Faughney [sic] and Peter Nolan, Quarryman who married on December 31, 1903 in the West District of Shotts. Her birth was registered No.119 at Cleland on September 18 by Peter Nolan, Father.
1907 Mary Nolan was born at 6h0m a.m. on Monday, July 1 at Omoa Square, Cleland to Ellen Nolan m.s. Faughney [sic] and Peter Nolan, Quarryman who married on December 31, 1903 at Cleland. Her birth was registered No.85 at Cleland on July 22 by Peter Nolan, Father.
Sadly, Mary died in October 1909.
1909 Ellen Nolan was born at 1h30m a.m. on Monday, March 29 at 97 Omoa Square, Cleland to Ellen Nolan m.s. Faughnin [sic] and Peter Nolan, Coalminer who married on December 31, 1904 [sic] at Cleland. Her birth was registered No.41 at Cleland on April 2 by Peter Nolan, Father, Present.
1909 Mary Nolan (Single) died at 9h30m p.m. on Sunday, October 10 at County Hospital (Usual residence 97 Omoa Square, Cleland, age 2 years 3 months, of Measles, 14 days, Diphtheria, 7 days, as certified by Daniel Stewart, MB. Her parents are recorded as Peter Nolan, Quarryman, and Ellen Nolan m.s. Faughnan. Her death was registered No.491 at Dalziel on the following day by Ellen Nolan, Mother, 97 Omoa Square, Cleland.
1911 April 2 the family were living at 86a Omoa Road, Cleland in a house with two windowed rooms.

Faughnan and Peter Nolan, Quarry Crane Man who married on December 31, 1903 in West Dist. Shotts. His birth was registered No.75 at Cleland on the same day by Peter Nolan, "his X mark", Father, Present.
