Sarah Carroll was born on October 7, 1860 in Rutherglen to Ann Loudon (c1831 - ) and William Carroll, Coal Miner (c1823 - ). [See Section CA-5-1 for probable family background.]
1876 On Thursday, August 17 Patrick Reynolds and Sarah Carroll were married at Carfin [St. Francis Xavier, established in 1862], Parish of Bothwell after Banns according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No. 41 at Holytown on 21st August.
Patrick was a Bachelor age 20, occupation Coalminer and usual residence Cleland, Parish of Shotts. His parents are recorded as Patrick Reynolds, Coalminer and Helen Reynolds m.s. Conley.
Sarah was a Spinster age 15, occupation Worker in a Brickfield and usual residence Cleland, Parish of Shotts. Her parents are recorded as William Carrol [sic], Coalminer and Ann Carrol m.s. Loudon.
The celebrant was Fr. Thos. Moran and the witnesses were James Hutton and Catherine Reynolds. [A James Hutton was also a witness at the marriage of Patrick's sister Jane to Robert Kelly at Wishaw in 1873.]

Ann born in 1889 in Greenhill, Shotts Parish, last sighting 1911. Jane born in 1891 in Omoa Square, Cleland, married Patrick McGarry in 1910, last sighting 1911. Francis born in 1893 in Omoa Square, Cleland, last sighting 1911. Margaret born in 1894 in Cambuslang, last sighting 1911. William born in 1896 in Cambuslang, last sighting 1911. Richard born in 1900 in Cambuslang, last sighting 1911. which tallies with the 1911 census count.
1877 Catherine Reynolds was born at 5h30m a.m. on Tuesday, June 12 at Mosshall, Newarthill, Parish of Bothwell to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carrol and Patrick Reynolds, Coalminer who married on 1876 August 17 at Carfin. Her birth was registered No.253 at Holytown on June 30 by Patrick Reynolds, Father.
Mosshall was a fertile place in 1877. In addition to Catherine, Ellen Reynolds was born on August 16 to Ritchie and Mary (m.s. Lafferty) and on September 3, Ann Kelly was born to Jane (m.s. Reynolds) and Robert. Ann and Ellen were registered on the same day with Ann getting No.341 and Ellen No.342. Three cousins in three months.
Catherine married James McDonald in 1901.
1879 Joseph Reynolds was born at 6h30m a.m. on Sunday, February 9 at 12 Miller Street, Blantyre to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carrol and Patrick Reynolds, Coal Miner who married on August 17, 1876 in Holytown [District]. His birth was registered No.60 at Blantyre on February 24 by Patrick Reynolds, Father.
Joseph married Maggie Dobbin in 1907.

1885 Ellen Reynolds was born at 3h0m a.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at 33 Calder Street, Blantyre to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carroll and Patrick Reynolds, Coal Miner who married on August 17, 1876 in Holytown [District]. Her birth was registered No.128 at Blantyre on April 19 by Patrick Reynolds, Father.
Ellen married Thomas Kelly in 1902.

1889 Ann Reynolds was born at 2h0m a.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Greenhill, Shotts to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carol and Patrick Reynolds, Coalminer who married on August 17, 1876 in Holytown [District]. Her birth was registered No.19 at Shotts (Middle District) on April 11 by Patrick Reynolds, Father
1891 Jane Reynolds was born at 11h30m p.m. on Monday, March 23 at 34 Omoa Square, Shotts Parish to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carrol and Patrick Reynolds, Coalminer who married on August 17, 1876 at Carfin, Holytown District. Her birth was registered No.26 at Cleland (Shotts West) on March 27 by Patrick Reynolds, Father.
Five days later, a cousin Rose Kelly was born just down the street to Robert and Jane (m.s. Reynolds). Her father was a bit tardy in dealing with the bureaucratic detail and Rose's birth was registered ten days after Jane's as No.30. No.31 on the register is Patrick Reynolds, son of William and Ellen (m.s. Connelly) born on April 5 and registered on the same day as Rose, and No.57 is Ellen Reynolds, daughter of Joseph and Ellen (m.s. McDermott) born on June 5 and registered on June 26.
Jane married Patrick McGarry in 1910.

His birth was registered No.44 at Cleland, West District of Shotts on April 12 by Patrick Reynolds, Father.
1894 Margaret Reynolds was born at 2h30m p.m. on Saturday, December 22 at 61 Gilbertfield Buildings, Halfway, Cambuslang to Sarah Reynolds m.s. 1900 Richard Reynolds was born at 1h30m a.m. on Monday, July 9 at 61 Spittal Rows, Newton Cambuslang to Sarah Reynolds m.s. Carrol and Patrick Reynolds, Coal Miner who married on August 17, 1876 in Bothwell [Parish]. His birth was registered No.404 at Cambuslang on July 25 by Patrick Reynolds, Father, Present.
1901 On Friday, January 25, James McDonald and Catherine Reynolds were married at St. Joseph's, Blantyre after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.22 at Blantyre on January 29.
James was a Bachelor, gave his age as 25, occupation Master Shoemaker and usual address 182 Main Street, Alexandria. His parents are recorded as Bernard McDonald, Master Shoemaker and Susan McDonald, m.s. Quillen.
Catherine was a Spinster, age 23, occupation Printfield Worker and usual address 61 Spittal Rows, Cambuslang. Her parents are recorded as Patrick Reynolds, Coal Miner and Sarah Reynolds, m.s. Carroll.
The celebrant was Thos. Hackett and the witnesses were James McMahon and Anne Carroll.
1901 March 31 The family were living at 61 Spittal Rows, Newton, Cambuslang in a house with two windowed rooms. (This is one of many near-illegible pages in this census book but I've made the best of it.)

1910 On Friday, July 15, Jane married Patrick McGarry at St. Charles Chapel, Newton, Cambuslang. [See Section MR-7-1 for further information.]
1911 April 2 The family were living at 33 Caldervale, Stonefield, Blantyre in a house with two windowed rooms.

Joseph and Maggie (Dobbin ) were also in Stonefield.
Ellen and Thomas (Kelly) were living in Burnbank, Hamilton.
Jane and Patrick (McGarry) were not far away at 3 Caldervale Terrace.
Which leaves just Mary (28) still unaccounted for.
1930 Sarah Reynolds, Married to Patrick Reynolds, Coal Hewer, died at 0h15m a.m. on Thursday, December 25 at 5 Caldervale Rows, Blantyre, age 70 years, of Fatty Degeneration of Heart, Chronic Bronchitis, as certified by L.?. Hamilton, M.B.Ch.B. Her parents are recorded as William Carel, Coal Hewer and Annie Carel m.s. Loudon, both deceased. Her death was registered No.123 at Blantyre on the following day by Joseph Reynolds, Son, 214 Glasgow Road, Blantyre.
1932 Patrick Reynolds, General Labourer, Widower of Sarah Carroll, died at 6h40m p.m. on Saturday, February 13 at 5 Caldervale, Blantyre, age 75 years [he was 76 plus 11 days], of Cardiac Vascular Disease after 3 [or 8] years, as certified by James Carruthers, M.B.Ch.B. His parents are recorded as Patrick Reynolds [no occupation recorded] and Ellen Reynolds m.s. Connelly, both deceased. His death was registered No.20 at Blantyre on the same day by Patrick Reynolds, Son, Present.
