1852 From the Register of Marriages in St. Mary's, Hamilton —
“James Keatings + Anne Kain, both of Cleland, after due proclamation, were married by me in the presence of Miles Cowan + Maria Gormley, [Monday,] November 22, 1852. Michael Condon.”
[Note :– James consistently gave December 1852 as the date of marriage when registering the births of their children.]
James and Annie had the following children (that I know of), all born at Omoa Iron Works, Cleland —
Mary born about 1853, last sighting 1861. Henry born in 1855, last sighting 1881. Bernard born in 1861 and died the same year. Francis born in 1863, last sighting 1881. Ann born in 1865, married Edward Faughnan in 1881 and died in 1901. Catherine born in 1867 and died 16 days later. Bridget born in 1867 and died in 1868. Helen born in 1869, last sighting 1881. Christina born in 1871, last sighting 1881.
c1853 Mary was born in Shotts Parish.
1855 Henry Keatings was born at 4h0m a.m. on Wednesday, August 8 at the Square, Omoa Iron Works to Ann Keatings m.s. Kane, age 21 years, born in Co. Longford, her 2nd child and James Keatings, Iron Miner, age 35 years, born in Co. Armagh, Ireland. They married in 1852 in Hamilton and already had 1 girl living. Henry's birth was registered No.173 at Shotts on the following day by James Keatings, "his X mark", Father, Present.
1861 Bernard Keatings was born at 5h30m a.m. on Wednesday, March 27 at Omoa Iron Works to Anne Keatings m.s. Kane and James Keatings, Iron Miner who married in December [sic] 1852 in Hamilton. His birth was registered No.89 at Shotts on April 14 by James Keatings, "his X mark", Father, Present.
Sadly, Bernard died two months later.
1861 April 7 The family were living at 66 Omoa Square in a house with two scholars and one windowed room.

1861 Bernard Keatings (Single) died at 11h55m a.m. on Friday, May 17 at Omoa Iron Works, age 7 weeks, of Inflamation of Lungs after 2 weeks, as certified by J.T. Barrie, Surgeon who saw deceased on May 16. His parents are recorded as James Keatings, Iron Miner and Ann Keatings m.s. Kane. His death was registered No.46 at Shotts on the same day by James Gorman, 2nd Cousin, Inmate, Present.
1863 Francis Keatings was born at 2h0m a.m. on Sunday, November 15 at Omoa Iron Works to Ann Keatings m.s. Kane and James Keatings, Iron Miner who married in December [sic] 1852 in Hamilton. His birth was registered No.176 at Shotts on December 1 by Jean McGinnis, "her X mark", A near neighbour.
1865 Ann Keatings was born at 10h0m p.m. on Sunday, August 27 at Omoa Iron Works to Ann Keatings m.s. Kane and James Keatings, Iron Miner who married in December 1852 in Hamilton. Her birth was registered No.148 at Shotts on September 5 by Martha Gormly, "her X mark", A Neighbour, Nurse, Present.
Ann married Edward Faughnan in 1881 in St. Mary's, Cleland.
1867 Twins Catharine and Bridget Keatings were born at 9h0m and 9h10m p.m. respectively on Sunday, November 3 at Omoa Iron Works to Ann Keatings m.s. Kane and James Keatings, Iron Miner who married in December 1852 in Hamilton. Their births were registered Nos.179 & 180 at Shotts on November 19 by Mary Keatings, "her X mark", Sister, Inmate, Present.
Sadly, neither twin lived long. Catharine lived 16 days and Bridget 3 months.
1867 Catharine Keatings (Single) died at 6h0m a.m. on Tuesday, November 19 at Omoa Iron Works, age 16 days, of Weakness from birth, No regular medical attendant. Her parents are recorded as James Keatings, Iron Miner and Ann Keatings m.s. Kane. Her death was registered No.81 at Shotts on the same day by Mary Keatings, "her X mark", Sister, Inmate, Present.
1868 Bridget Keatings (Single) died at 8h0m a.m. on Thursday, February 27 at Omoa Iron Works, age 3 months, of Whooping Cough, weeks, as certified by John T. Barrie, M.D. Her parents are recorded as James Keatings, Iron Miner and Ann Keatings m.s. Kane. Her death was registered No.21 at Shotts on the following day by James Keatings, "his X mark", Father, Present.
1869 Helen Keatings was born at 8h20m a.m. on Friday, May 21 at Omoa Iron Works to Ann Keatings m.s. Kane and James Keatings, Iron Miner who married in December 1852 in Hamilton. Her birth was registered No.87 at Shotts on June 1 by Catherine O'Connar, "her X mark", Nearest Neighbour, Present.
1871 April 2 The family were living at 90 Omoa Square in a house with two scholars and one windowed room.

1871 Christina Caitens was born at 2h0m a.m. on Sunday, June 11 at Omoa Square to Ann Caitens m.s. Cain and James Caitens, Coal Miner who married in December 1852 in Hamilton. Her birth was registered No.165 at Shotts on September 11 by Ann Caitens, "her X mark", Mother.
