1872 On Friday, September 27, Pat Toner and Agness McConnell were married at the Roman Catholic Chapel of Keady [aka Derrynoose] according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.189 in the District of Keady in the Superintendent Registrar's District of Armagh in the Union of Armagh in the County of Armagh.

Pat was a Bachelor, of Full Age, occupation Labourer, residing in the townland of Laggan [Lagan]. His father is recorded as James Toner (alive), Farmer.

Agness was a Spinster, of Full Age, no occupation recorded, residing in the townland of Tullyglush. Her father in recorded as James McConnell (dead), Farmer.

The celebrant was James Byrne, C.C. and the witnesses were Edward Quinn and Denis Hughes.

Pat, Agness and Denis made their marks, Edward signed.

The marriage is noted in the Register of Marriages for the parish of Derrynoose [aka Keady].


1878 Margaret Toner was born at 2h15m p.m. on Sunday, March 31 at 17 Branchal Road, Cambusnethan to Agnes Toner m.s. McConnell and Patrick Toner, General Labourer who married in October [sic], 1872 at Keady, Co. Armagh, Ireland. Her birth was registered No.247 at Wishaw on April 15 by Agnes Toner, Mother.


So far, no sign of the Toners in 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses.

 


The Family of Owen Creanor & Margaret Tonner, 1899

Owen Creanor was born on Sunday, January 8, 1865 to Margaret Lynch (c1836 - 1911) and Arthur Creanor (c1824 - 1907). [See Section CR-6-1 for family background.]

Margaret Tonner was born on Sunday, March 31, 1878 at 17 Branchal Road, Wishaw to Agnes McConnell ( - ) and Patrick Tonner, General Labourer ( - ). [See above for family background.]


1899 On Friday, December 29, Owen Creanor and Maggie Tonner were married at St. John's, Fauldhouse after Banns according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.24 at Fauldhouse on the following day.

Owen was a Bachelor, age 34, occupation Coal Miner and usual residence Fauldhouse. His parents are recorded as Arthur Creanor, Coal Miner and Margaret Creanor m.s. Lynch.

Maggie was a Spinster, gave her age as 20 [she was 21¾], occupation Domestic Servant and usual residence also Fauldhouse. Her parents are recorded as Patrick Tonner, Labourer and Agnes Tonner m.s. McCarville.

The celebrant was George Mason, Catholic Clergyman, and the witnesses were Patrick McGarvill and Maggie Creanor [probably Owen's sister].

which tallies with the 1911 census count.


1900 Agnes Creanor was born at 7h45m a.m. on Thursday, November 1 at Fauldhouse Row, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner and Owen Creanor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1899 in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.98 at Fauldhouse on November 19 by Owen Creanor, Father, Present.


1901 March 31 The family were living in Greenburn, Fauldhouse in a house with one windowed room.

1902 Margaret Creanor was born at 11h0m p.m. on Thursday, February 6 at Greenburn, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner and Owen Creanor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1900 [sic] in Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.24 at Fauldhouse on February 25 by Owen Creanor, Father.


1903 Catherine Traynor [sic] was born at 10h30m p.m. on Thursday, July 30 at Blackfaulds, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Traynor m.s. Tonner and Owen Traynor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1899 at Fauldhouse. Her birth was registered No.97 at Fauldhouse on August 10 by Margaret Traynor, Mother.

Pity about the surname, everything else matches.


1905 Twins Arthur and Mary Creanor were born at 11h0m and 11h30m a.m. respectively on Thursday, November 9 at Post Office Row, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner and Owen Creanor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1899 in Fauldhouse. Their births were registered Nos.115 & 116 at Fauldhouse on November 29 by Owen Creanor, Father.


1911 April 2 The family were living at Post Office Row, Main Street, Fauldhouse in a house with one windowed room.

1914 John Creanor was born at 7h30m p.m. on Thursday, October 15 at Post Office Row, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner and Owen Creanor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1899 in Fauldhouse. His birth was registered No.150 at Fauldhouse on October 26 by Owen Creanor, Father.

Sadly, John died in 1918, aged just 4 years.


1918 Patrick Creanor was born at 4h0m a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 at Post Office Row, District of Fauldhouse to Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner and Owen Creanor, Coal Miner who married on December 29, 1899 in Fauldhouse. His birth was registered No.111 at Fauldhouse on September 28 by Owen Creanor, Father.


1918 John Creanor (Single) died at 1h30m a.m. on Tuesday, October 8 at Post Office Row, District of Fauldhouse, age 4 years, of Acute Laryngitis after 4 days, as certified by Robert Gilchrist, MBChB. His parents are recorded as Owen Creanor, Coal Miner and Margaret Creanor m.s. Tonner. His death was registered No.37 at Fauldhouse on the same day by Owen Greanor, Father, Present.
