1860 On Thursday, August 23, Daniel and Ellen were married in Co. Antrim, Ireland, according to the birth registrations of most of their Scots-born children.

Daniel and Ellen had the following children (that I know of) —

Janeborn about 1862 in Ireland, married Patrick O'Hara in 1891, last sighting 1891.
Rose Annborn about 1864 in Co. Antrim, married John McCluskey in 1887, last sighting 1901.
Jamesborn in 1866 in Gartsherrie, Coatbridge, last sighting 1911.
Helenborn in 1867 in Gartsherrie, Coatbridge, last sighting 1911.
Agnesborn in 1869 in Gartsherrie, Coatbridge, married Patrick Carroll in 1892 and died in 1900.
Felixborn in 1870 at Clyde Iron Works and died the same year.
Elizabethborn in 1871 at Clyde Iron Works, married Gerald Lynch in 1901, last sighting 1901.
Danielborn about 1876 at Clyde Iron Works, last sighting 1911.


c1862 Jane was born in Ireland.


c1864 Rose Ann was born in Co. Antrim (according to the 1901 census), Ireland.


1866 James McKerragher was born at 11h45m a.m. on Monday, February 26 at 121 Gartsherrie [,Coatbridge] to Helen McKerragher m.s. Ward and Daniel McKerragher, Furnaceman who married on August 8 [sic], 1860 in County Antrim, Ireland. His birth was registered No.149 at Old Monkland on March 5 by Daniel McKerragher, "his X mark", Father.

He was baptised (as James McKerraghan) in the parish of St. Patrick's, Coatbridge on March 9. His parents are recorded as Daniel McKerraghan and Helen Ward. [Index entry]


1867 Helen McKerracher was born at 10h a.m. on Sunday, September 22 at 121 Gartsherrie [,Coatbridge] to Helen McKerracher m.s. Ward and Daniel McKerracher, Furnaceman who married on August 23, 1860 in County Antrim, Ireland. Her birth was registered No.588 at Old Monkland on October 1 by Daniel McKerracher, "his X mark", Father.

She was baptised (as Ellen McKerragher) in the parish of St. Patrick's, Coatbridge on October 4. Her parents are recorded as Daniel McKerragher and Ellen Ward. [Index entry]


1869 Agnes McArracher was born at 1h0m a.m. on Tuesday, August 24 at 121 Gartsherrie [,Coatbridge] to Ellen McArracher m.s. Ward and Daniel McArracher, Furnace Keeper who married on August 23, 1860 in County Antrim, Ireland. Her birth was registered No.527 at Coatbridge on September 2 by Daniel McArracher, "his X mark", Father, Present.

Agnes married Patrick Carroll in 1892 in St. Paul's, Shettleston.


1870 Felix McArechar was born at 2h p.m. on Thursday, November 17 at Clyde Iron Works to Ellen McArechar m.s. Ward and Daniel McArechar, Furnace Keeper who married on August 23, 1860 in Co. Antrim. His birth was registered No.297 at Faulds, Baillieston on December 1 by Daniel McArechar, "his X mark", Father.

He was baptised (as Felix McKerraher) in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir in November. His parents are recorded as Daniel McKerraher and Ellen Ward. [Index entry]

Sadly, Felix did not live long.

1870 Felix McArechar (Single) died at 10h a.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at Clyde Iron Works, age 12 days, of Premature Birth, No Medical Attendant. His parents are recorded as Daniel McArechar, Furnace Keeper and Ellen McArechar m.s. Ward. His death was registered No.147 at Faulds, Baillieston on December 1 by Daniel McArechar, "his X mark", Father, Present.


1871 April 2 The family were living at 31 Dandy Row, Clyde Iron Works, Tollcross in a house with 1 windowed room.

1871 Elizabeth McArechar was born at 7h p.m. on Sunday, December 3 at Clyde Iron Works to Ellen McArechar m.s. Ward and Daniel McArechar, Furnaceman Iron Works who married on August 23, 1860 in Co. Antrim, Ireland. Her birth was registered No.310 at Faulds, Baillieston on December 12 by Daniel McArechar, "his X mark", Father.

She was baptised (as Elizabeth McKerracher) in December (day not visible) by Fr. George McBrearty in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir with sponsors Daniel McKerracher and Mary Martin.


c1876 Daniel was born at Clyde Iron Works, allegedly. I couldn't find a reasonable birth registration [not 1877 Camlachie 644/2-402], nor could I find an appropriate entry for his baptism in the index.


1881 April 3 The family were living at 54 Clyde Rows, Clyde Iron Works, Tollcross in a house with X windowed rooms. (LDS transcription - check 652-1 Book 1 Page 13)

1887 On Thursday, April 21, Rose Ann married John McCluskey at the Sacred Heart Chapel, [Bridgeton,] Glasgow. [See Section MS-7-1 for further information.]


1890 Ellen O'Hara (Illegitimate) was born at 1h15m a.m. on Monday, April 21 at 34 Easterhill Street, Tollcross to Jane McKerracher, Dyer and Patrick O'Hara, Brick Maker. Her birth was registered No.151 at Shettleston on May 12 by Jane McKerracher, Mother and P. O'Hara, Father, The Square, Clyde Iron Works.


1891 April 5 The family were living at 34 Easterhill Street, Tollcross in a house with 2 windowed rooms.

John McLuskey is the son of Rose Ann (and presumably John McCluskey), Ellen O'Hara is the daughter of Jane and Patrick O'Hara but where is Patrick?

Rose Ann and John (McCluskey) were not far away at 65 Main Street, Tollcross.


1891 On Thursday, December 31, Patrick O'Hara and Jane McKerracher were married at St. Paul's R.C. Church, Shettleston after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.7 at Shettleston on January 4, 1892.

Patrick was a Bachelor, gave his age as 31, occupation Brick Maker and usual residence 31 Easterhill Street, Tollcross. His parents are recorded as Alexander O'Hara, Labourer (deceased) and Sarah O'Hara, previously McDowall, m.s. Quin.

Jane was a Spinster, gave her age as 30, occupation Bleacher and usual residence also 31 Easterhill Street, Tollcross. Her parents are recorded as Daniel McKerracher, Furnaceman and Ellen McKerracher m.s. Ward.

The celebrant was Joseph Van Hecke and the witnesses were Hugh Montague and Ellen McKerracher.


1892 Agnes married Patrick Carroll on Thursday, November 3 at St. Paul's, Shettleston. [See Section CA2-7-3 for further information.]


1898 Helen McCarragher, married to Daniel McCarragher, Labourer, died at 4h15m p.m. on Saturday, January 15 at 34 Easterhill Street, Tollcross, age 55 years, of Angina Pectoria after 7 days, as certified by H.J. Cosgrove, Physician. Her parents are recorded as James Ward, School Teacher and Jane Ward m.s. Lock, both deceased. Her death was registered No.21 at Shettleston on January 17 by Daniel McCarragher, "his X mark", Widower, Present.


1901 March 31 Daniel, some of his children and his widowed son-in-law Patrick Carroll with his children were living at 34 Easterhill Street, Tollcross in a house with two windowed rooms.

John (14) is probably Daniel's grandson, son of Rose Ann and John (McCluskey) who were not far away in Catherine Place, Dunlop Street. For David, above, read Daniel.


1901 On Friday, September 27, Gearld Lynch and Lizzie McKerracher were married at the R.C. Church, Tollcross [St. Joseph's] after Publication according to the Forms of the R.C. Church. The marriage was registered No.77 at Baillieston on October 3.

Gerald was a Bachelor, gave his age as 22, occupation Coalminer and usual residence 42 Nimmos Rows, New Stevenston, Holytown. His parents are recorded as William Lynch, Shepherd (deceased) and Catherine Lynch, m.s. Quinn.

Lizzie was a Spinster, gave her age as 25 [she was 29], occupation Silk Weaver and usual residence 34 Easterhill Street, Tollcross. Her parents are recorded as Daniel McKerracher, Furnaceman and Ellen McKerracher m.s. Ward (deceased).

The celebrant was James H. Kirk, Catholic Priest and the witnesses were John Smith and Ellen McKerracher.


1911 April 2 The family were living at 136 Easterhill Street (single house) in a house with 3 windowed rooms.
