Henry McGee was born on Saturday, 3 October 1835 in the Parish of Shettleston to Sarah Dunigan (c1810 - 1888) and James McGee (c1810 - 1885). [See Section MG-5-1 for family background.]
Margaret Burns was born about 1835 in Ireland to Sarah Milligan (c1810 - bef 1868) and Michael Burns ( - bef 1851). [See Section BU-6-1 for family background.]
1860 On Thursday, October 11, Henry Maghee and Margaret Burns were married at Eastmuir, Shettleston after Banns according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.30 at Shettleston on the following day. [I had some difficulty finding this record due to the odd spelling of Henry's surname!]
Henry was a Bachelor, aged 25, occupation Labourer and usual residence Lightburn, Shettleston Parish. His parents are recorded as James Maghee, Labourer and Sarah Maghee m.s. Dunigan.
Margaret was a Spinster, also aged 25, occupation Outdoor Worker and usual residence Eastmuir, Shettleston Parish. Her parents are recorded as Michael Burns, Labourer, deceased and Sarah Burns m.s. Milligan.
The celebrant was Fr. P. McLaughlin, Pastor of St. Paul's RC Church, Eastmuir and the witnesses were Thos Dunigan [possibly a cousin of Henry] and Margaret Connelly [probably Margaret's next door neighbour].
The marriage is also recorded in the register of St. Paul's, Eastmuir
"Henry McGee & Margaret Burns, after due proclamation of Banns, were married by me in the presence of Thomas Dunigan and Margaret Connelly. Patrick McLaughlin."
Henry and Margaret had the following children (that I know of)
Sarah (1) born in 1862 and died in 1864. Margaret born in 1863 in Baillieston, married Michael Connelly in 1889, last sighting 1920. Sarah (2) born in 1865 in Baillieston, married John Hays in 1889, last sighting 1901. James born in 1868 in Baillieston, last sighting 1881. Ellen born in 1870 in Hamilton, last sighting 1891. Annie born in 1872 in Hamilton, married Patrick Sheridan in 1895, last sighting 1911.
1861 April 7 Henry and Margaret were living at Sandyhills Square (being two rows of workmen's houses) in a house in which one room had one or more windows. The household is listed as

At that time, Sandyhills was not the large inter-war housing estate but a cluster of colliery houses opposite the east end of Sandyhills Road where it meets Shettleston Road at the east end of Eastmuir.
Next door dwelt a family called Connolly with an 18 year old Margaret who may have been Henry and Margaret's bridesmaid and a 6 year old Ellen who married Thomas Dobbin in 1881 then William Reynolds in 1890.
1862 Sarah Magee was born at 11h0m a.m. on Thursday, April 17 at Sandyhills, Shettleston, Lanark to Margaret Magee m.s. Burns and Henry Magee, Coalminer who married on October 11 at Eastmuir, Lanark. Her birth was registered No.94 at Shettleston on April 26 by Henry Magee, Father.
She was baptised on April 20 by Fr. Patrick McLaughlin in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir with sponsors John McGee and Mary Ann McCreanor.
Sadly, Sarah died in 1864.
1863 Margaret McGee was born at 10h p.m. on Saturday, December 26 at Baillieston to Margaret McGee m.s. Burns and Henry McGee, Coalminer who married on October 11, 1860 at Eastmuir near Glasgow. Her birth was registered No.7 at Faulds, Baillieston in the District of Old Monkland West on January 8, 1864 by Henry McGee, "his X mark", Father, Present.
She was baptised by Fr. Patrick McLaughlin in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir on the following day with sponsors James McGee and Catherine Mooney.
Margaret married Michael Connelly in 1889 in Shettleston.
1864 Sarah Magee (Single) died at 3h p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at Douglas Land, Baillieston, age 2 years, of Pneumonia after 2 weeks, as certified by George Willis, Surgeon. Her parents are recorded as Henry Magee, Coalminer and Margaret Magee m.s. Burns. Her death was registered No.96 at Faulds, Baillieston on the following day by Henry Magee, "his X mark", Father, Present.
Serah Mager, age 2, was buried in Dalbeth Old Cemetery on the 23rd, cause of death Scarlettina and a fee of 2/6d. [All the entries on this page have "Opening Lair" but no lair references].
1865 A second Sarah McGhee was born at 0h20m a.m. on Friday, December 22 at Douglas Land, Baillieston to Margaret McGhee m.s. Burns and Henry McGhee, Coalminer who married on October 11, 1860 at Sandyhills, Shettleston. Her birth was registered No.337 at Faulds, Baillieston in the District of Old Monkland West on December 27 by Henry McGhee, "his X mark", Father.
She was baptised by Fr. Patrick McLaughlin in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir on December 26 with sponsors James McGee and Sarah Dunigan [her grandparents]. This record gives her mother's surname as Burns.
Sarah married John Hayes in 1889 in Shettleston.
1868 On Monday, February 24, Henry McGee and Margaret Burns were witnesses at the marriage of Margaret's brother, Michael Burns and Mary Ruddy. [See Section BU-6-1.htm for further information.]
1868 James McGee was born at 2h0m a.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Douglas Land, Baillieston to Margaret McGhee m.s. Burns and Henry McGee, Coalminer who married on 1860 October 11 at Eastmuir. His birth was registered No.108 at Faulds, Baillieston in the District of Old Monkland West on April 10 by Henry "his X mark" McGee, Father.
He was baptised by Fr. Patrick McLaughlin in the parish of St. Paul's, Eastmuir on the following day with sponsors James McGee and Sarah Dunigan [his grandparents].
1870 Ellen Magee was born at 1h30m a.m. on Monday, May 9 at Allanton Colliery, Parish of Hamilton to Margaret Magee m.s. Burns and Henry Magee, Coal Miner who married on October 11, 1860 in Barony. Her birth was registered No.238 at Hamilton on May 12 by Henry Magee, Father.

1872 Ann Magee was born at 11h30m a.m. on Monday, December 9 at Allanton Colliery, Parish of Hamilton to Margaret Magee m.s. Byrne [sic] and Henry Magee, Coal Miner who married on October 11, 1860 in Glasgow. Her birth was registered No.680 at Hamilton on December 17 by Henry Magee, Father.
1877 March 25 Henry and Mrs H. McGee were sponsors at the baptism of John, lawful child of James Ward and Mary Bolton in St. Paul's, Eastmuir.
1881 April 3 The family were living at 21 Paterson's Land in Shettleston in a house with one windowed room. [Paterson was a local coal master who lived in Wellshot House.]

1885 On July 20 Henry registered the death of his father James who died on the 18th at Lightburn, giving his own address as 13 Firpark (now Darleith) Street, Shettleston.
1888 On March 27 Henry registered the death of his mother Sarah who died the previous day, giving his own address as 231 Westmuir Street (between Shettleston and Parkhead Cross).
1888 Sarah and John Hayes were the witnesses at the marriage of John's sister Janet and Michael Connolly on April 26.
1889 On Tuesday, January 1, Sarah married John Hays at St. Paul's, Shettleston. [See Section HS-6-3 for further information.]
1889 On Wednesday, October 30, Michael Connely [sic] and Margaret McGee were married at St. Paul's R.C. Church, Shettleston after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.58 at Shettleston on November 4.
Michael was a Bachelor, gave his age as 23, occupation Van Driver and usual residence 56 Main Street, Tollcross. His parents are recorded as Peter Connely, Farm Servant (deceased) and Ellen Connely m.s. Lantine.
Margaret was a Spinster, age 25, occupation Steam Loom Weaver and usual residence Carntyne Street, Shettleston. Her parents are recorded as Henry McGee, Coal Miner and Margaret McGee m.s. Burns.
The celebrant was Joseph Van Hecke and the witnesses were James Connely and Ellen McGee.
1890 Margaret Connelly was born at 6h10m p.m. on Monday, October 27 at Keirs Buildings, Tollcross to Margaret Connelly m.s. McGhee [sic] and Michael Connelly, Laundry Vanman who married on October 30, 1889 at Shettleston. Her birth was registered No.352 at Baillieston on November 7 by Michael Connelly, Father.
1891 April 5 The family were living at 92 Carntyne Street (now part of Old Shettleston Road) in a house with 2 windowed rooms.

1895 on Tuesday, 18 June, Annie McGee and Patrick Sheridan were married at the Catholic Church, Mid Calder after Publication according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The marriage was registered No.24 at Mid Calder on June 22.
Patrick was a Bachelor, gave his age as 26, occupation Oil Works Labourer and usual residence 7 Bank Street, Addiewell, Mid Calder. His parents are recorded as Thomas Sheridan, Carter and Mary Sheridan m.s. Reilly.
Annie McGee was a Spinster, gave her age as 22, occupation Dressmaker and usual residence also 7 Bank Street, Addiewell, Mid Calder. Her parents are recorded as Hendry McGhee, Miner, and Margaret McGhee m.s. Burns.
The celebrant was Thomas O'Carroll and the witnesses John Murphy and Mary Riddington. All parties signed their names.
I cannot identify a church in Mid Calder at that time. The present parish appears to be St. Andrew's, Livingstone, but it was not established until 1982. Fr. O'Carroll was Parish Priest of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Bathgate and they might have run a mission in Mid Calder. Another possibility is St. Theresa's, East Calder, established in 1833.
A search of church records available on-line at ScotlandsPeople failed to find this marriage.
1901 March 31 The family were living at 96 Carntyne Street in a house with one windowed room.

1903 Henry McGhee, Road Surfaceman, married to Margaret Byrne [sic] died at 2h0m a.m. on Thursday, November 26 at 98 Carntyne Street, Shettleston, age 63 years [he was 68], of Cardiac Disease, 9 months, as certified by H.J. Cosgrove, Physician etc. His parents are recorded as James McGhee, Hand Loom Weaver and Sarah McGhee m.s. Dunigan, both deceased. His death was registered No.309 at Shettleston on the same day by Patrick Sheridan, Son-in-Law, Present.
Henry McGhee (age 69) was buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeth on the 28th, cause of death Debility and a fee of 12/6 was paid. Henry is said to be the owner of the lair, 979, section 9E, no title recorded.
1911 April 2 Margaret was living with the Sheridans at 10 South Vesalius Street. There are at least 6 houses at this address, all with two windowed rooms.

Reid, M.B.Ch.B. Her parents are recorded as Michael Burns, Farmer and Sarah Burns m.s. Milligan, both deceased. Her death was registered No.122 at Glasgow [Shettleston District] on the same day by Margaret Connolly, Daughter, 23 Vesalius Street, Present.
Margaret McGhee (age 80) was buried with Henry in St. Peter's Cemetery, Dalbeth on the 15th, no cause of death recorded and a fee of £1-16/- was paid. Her relationship to the owner is indecipherable, the lair number is 979, section 9E, with title number 3365.
